What Is Hypertension

By admin · Comments (2)

Hypertension is a medical disorder in which the blood pressure is raised to high levels. It is one of the signs that an individual may have a stroke, heart attack, or heart failure.

Some patients who have hypertension have been known to have aneurysms as well, and this can lead to serious kidney problems. The level of a person’s blood pressure will determine their risk for developing a number of diseases.

Because the blood pressure of a patient may vary greatly, a diagnoses for hypertension should not be made unless two or more readings have been taken.

I know people can lower their cholesterol by following a good diet (fruits, vegetables, high fiber) and with some supplements. But does this have any effect on also lowering blood pressure too?

I have to ask again do you know of an effective way of lowering blood pressure …. apart from medication that is?
I’m on Diovan and it does not seem to be helping. Been back to the doctor who is at a loss…so now I want to see if the alternative medicine approach will work for me.
My present approach prescribed medication + healthy eating + weight watching+ excercise

After months of job searching, I maybe offered employment. The problem is I will have to have a medical in a few weeks because you have to be phisicially fit and sometimes I have high blood pressure. I was prescribed medication last year but did not take it.
My dilemer is, if I start taking medication now, will it lower my blood pressure on time. If it did, would it then show up in the standard blood test they do that I have a health problem and I would not get the job anyway. I really want this job and it’s not that phicially demanding, so what is the best way to go. I don’t know whether to have a chat with my GP.

Hi, my hubby and I are not “officially” TTC, but are considering starting to try this year… Unfortunately, I am currently overweight… and because of it I have blood pressure problems. Realizing the health risks when a person has high blood pressure and pregnant, I would like to lose as much weight as possible before we start trying. Does anyone have any suggestions, or is anyone in the same situation I am in? I just want to make sure that I am as healthy as I can be, when I am pregnant. Thanks…

Ok, so i just found out that i have high blood pressure and its because i drink alot, eat fatty bad for me foods and get very little exercise.
Now, obviously two of those are easy. Eat better an exercise. But ive been looking around and it says cutting back on the drinking will help. I usually drink about 6 – 9 beers a day. Do i have to quit totally? Does it make any difference if i drink spirits / liquor instead of beer?
I like my drink!

Hi,
I have to get a physical done so I can play sports and when I checked my blood pressure last week it was 133/74 so it is kind of high right? My question is that my appt is at 10:30 on Thurdsay and I was wandering what I can do to lower my blood pressure fast. I am already starting to exercise and will start dieting tomorrow plus I’m going to be playing sports. I’m 15 btw. Will having high blood pressure make it so I can’t play sports?
Thanks
